Solitude

“Earth is inherently a social sphere.
Without structure, everything lacks balance.
Without sovereignty, everything lacks bounty.

Man is inherently a social creature.
Without society, he lacks belonging.
Without solitude, he lacks becoming.”

After weeks of trying to figure out how to write about my solo trip, this composition came to me.  Every day I’d stare at the above picture (taken from the final morning of my trip) on my phone and relive the moment, but just was at a loss for putting it into words that would drive the message home.  I’m thankful, though, that this came to me and hope it finds meaning for you.

It’s written in such a way that the lines and words connect, interchange, take double meaning and also, at times, are opposite of each other.  If you see anything of them, know that I’m thrilled we’re seeing and understanding that dimension together.  If you’re having a hard time, take a look at the picture again – it has all the elements there.  Anyway, I’m truly honored you’ve read the above composition and look forward to sharing some other experiences I had up in the Boundary Waters.

– Chad

P.S. – I’m exploring an option to post an album of pictures that I took from the trip on here. Until then, you can find the compressed pictures in an album on my new Facebook page (feel free to like the page too!):
